Combined Male tumour markers

£401.35

The combined male tumour markers test measures the tumour (cancer) markers Alpha fetoprotein (AFP), Carcino Embryonic Antigen (CEA), CA 199, and PSA. There are pros and cons to doing such a test and it is really important that before doing any genetic/cancer monitoring/predicting test, you speak to a clinician to determine if this is the right test for your, and how to manage the results.

Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) is used to screen for and monitor therapy for certain cancers of the liver and testes. In the presence of certain cancers, including bowel cancer, Carcino Embryonic Antigen (CEA) may be used to monitor the effect of treatment and recurrence of disease. CA 199 is a test to help tell the difference between cancer of the pancreas and bile ducts and other conditions; and to monitor response to pancreatic cancer treatment and to watch for recurrence. A PSA blood test helps detect and to monitor prostate cancer. It may be useful if you have symptoms of prostate disease, such as poor flow difficulty in passing urine, straining or taking long time while urinating, hesitancy, weak flow, terminal dribbling (not able to stop the flow at the end of urination) or passing urine more frequently than usual especially during the night.
